Fees and Policies
I know that the cost of therapy can feel like a tender and practical consideration. My intention is to make this work as accessible as possible while also honoring the sustainability of my practice. You’ll find my sliding-scale structure below, created to help you choose a fee that aligns with your financial reality. You’ll also find my cancellation policy and other logistical details here, offered in the spirit of clarity, care, and mutual respect as we begin — or continue — our work together.
Sliding Scale: Finding Your Fee
Healing asks for spaciousness — emotionally, relationally, and financially. I offer a sliding scale to help you locate a fee that reflects both your lived reality and the sustainability of my work. This guide is meant to support clarity and self-honesty as you choose a rate that aligns with your resources, responsibilities, and access. There is no judgment here — simply an invitation to find the place on the scale that feels true for you, and that allows me to continue offering deep, consistent care.
Tier 1: Supported Rate
*limited number of slots available
$100-$150 for individuals
$200-$225 for couples
For folks with fewer financial resources or those experiencing unstable income.
You might locate yourself here if one or more are true:
-
You have difficulty meeting basic needs (housing, food, medical).
-
You’re carrying significant debt with little/no savings.
-
You support dependents or family members financially.
-
You work for low or unpredictable wages.
-
Paying a higher fee would create strain or prevent you from accessing therapy.
This tier is sustained by those able to pay full or higher fees.
Tier 2: Standard Rate
$200 for individuals
$250 for couples
For clients with relatively stable income and capacity to meet their needs.
You might locate yourself here if:
-
You can consistently meet basic needs and have some discretionary income.
-
You can manage debt and/or have modest savings.
-
You have access to employer benefits, stable housing, or family support.
-
Paying this rate feels comfortable but not burdensome.
This is the average cost of therapy in my practice and supports long-term, sustainable work.
Tier 3: Resourced Rate
$300-$350 for individuals
$350-$500 for couples
For clients whose financial reality includes higher levels of stability, assets, or generational support.
You may be in this tier if:
-
You own a home or multiple properties.
-
You have retirement savings, investments, or a family safety net.
-
You have the capacity for regular discretionary spending.
-
Paying this rate does not create financial stress.
This tier reflects your current level of access and makes sliding-scale offerings possible.
Choosing your tier
Determining your fee is about finding a rate that aligns with your resources, responsibilities, and capacity. This is an honor-based system that trusts your self-assessment and supports sustainability for both of us. There is no perfect answer. Choose the tier that feels most accurate and workable for your life right now. If you’re unsure, we can always talk through it together and if your circumstances change, we can revisit your fee together at any point.
Session Length & Frequency
Sessions are typically 50 minutes and are shaped around your needs, your rhythms, and your goals for the work.
I encourage new clients to begin with weekly sessions, which helps us build momentum, relational depth, and continuity. Over time — as your internal capacity strengthens and things begin to shift — we may decide together to meet less frequently. And there may be moments when you need more support and we increase session frequency for a period.
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Our work will evolve with you.
Do You Take Insurance?
I am a private-pay (out-of-pocket) practice and do not bill insurance directly.
However, many California clients are able to receive partial reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits.
If you’d like to pursue reimbursement, I’m happy to provide a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance provider.
Because every plan is different, I always recommend contacting your insurance company directly to ask:
-
whether they cover out-of-network mental health services
-
what percentage they reimburse
-
whether you have a deductible to meet first
I’m happy to support you in navigating this process if questions come up.
Cancellation Policy
Consistency is an important part of therapeutic work, and I hold your session time specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for 48 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee. This policy allows me to maintain a sustainable practice and to offer open times to clients who may be waiting for available sessions.
If a change comes up, simply reach out to me directly as soon as you’re able.
